Book Review: A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

A lot of you might not know, but Beauty and the Beast is my all time favourite Fairy Tale and ACOTAR is a retelling of exactly that!

👉I actually had this signed by Sarah J. Maas before I even read it (#guilty), but I already knew that I would love it. I read this when I got tired of Lady Midnight because it got so boring and I decided to put that aside and read this instead. BEST. DECISION. EVER.👈

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it… or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

(I always try my best to give a spoiler-free review! So you can enjoy reading the book and my review with ease :))

It may be because Sarah J. Maas is my queen that I immensely love this book, but I also may have a thing about forbidden love, won’t you say?

Plot: The plot is perfectly laid out and fast paced. I’m a person who hates draggy plots (currently, Lady Midnight is an example. I couldn’t even get halfway through it..)

Anyway, I’m captured by the storyline and how the scene plays out. It keeps you on the edge of your seat to keep you wanting to know more. E,g Who is the beast? What does he look like under a mask? What truly is a Faerie? What happens next?

Characters: This book is only 416 pages long, but in the first few chapters, you really get to know Feyre and emotional connect with her even though you might not have been through what she’s going through in the book.

As for the romance part in the book, it is quite brief, but the impact hits you good. Love in this book had quite a variety. Either forbidden love, family love or even unrequited love. THE FEELS IS REAL! No spoilers like always, but whew! Plot twists till the end.

Since I’m a huge fan of Sarah J. Maas and Beauty and the Beast, I would automatically love this book ❤ But if you’re still hesitating, GO GET IT!

Is it worth the read? Yes! If you love a good fantasy/retelling book, this is the one for you. I finish this within 4 freaking days! And I can’t wait for the second book, ACOMAF 😍
