Title: An Ember in the Ashes
Author: Sabaa Tahir
Reading Timeline: 3-12 July 2016
My Rating: ★★★★★★★✩✩✩
I mean, there’s nothing much to hate about this book. To me, it was a very easy and simple read. Not much anticipation or “omg!”, or shockers. As such, it was a relatively calm book.
I think that I shouldn’t bash this book or be too harsh on it, since the Fantasy genre is pretty much up there with authors like Sarah J. Maas and Marissa Meyer etc.
Not as impactful as I was expecting it to be, but still delivers a punch strong enough. I think that what captures me was not really about the writing but the plot and the potential that it can go very far. I can quite understand the hype, but it is still a little overrated for me.
But, I have to touch on the good parts of this books as well. Though the character development, in my opinion, wasn’t as strong, the plot development however was awesome. Very captivating and interesting 🙂 Definitely one of the better-than-normal fantasy book out there!
If you’d like a quick and semi-filling read, do give this book a try. If you’re out for some intense, fantasy novel, I wouldn’t really recommend this book (in my opinion, of course.)
