Ahhh! Today’s my 2 year blog anniversary!!! And I’m also so excited to be part of this blog tour to promote Karyn’s new book Betraying Xaverique, a sequel to the Choosing Xaverique Duology 🙂
I had the honour to beta read Betraying Xaverique back in august and I’m so happy to announce that it has officially been published on the December 12! Do be aware that tomorrow will be the end of the BLOG TOUR GIVEAWAY!
My spoiler-free review on both Choosing and Betraying Xaverique by Karyn Sepulveda:
Reality and fantasy collide when Noah and Gabby meet. Both have secrets: they are not human, cannot be killed and are falling in love with each other.
Gabby Valis is a regular fifteen year old; her biggest worries in life are friends, boys and her annoying brother Zac. But her life is shattered the day she finds out she is not human. She had no idea she belonged to a secret species which has evolved from humans; ‘Xaveriques’. After being hit by a car, her body is forced to heal itself, and Gabby’s powers are unleashed…
Choosing Xaverique ➫ This book captures your attention from the very beginning! I really feel that there is nothing to not like about because I feel that Karyn’s writing is very safe. Nothing too bold. It has it’s good and bad, but for now, I think it’s pretty cool 😀
I really wanted to give this 10 stars because there really isn’t anything to hate, but I feel like the whole story really has the potential to go even further! If Karyn tries to push a little more and go wild with her characters and plots, it’ll be even more amazing 🙂
Gabby Valis is a Xaverique. So is the boy she loves, Noah; he’s also her enemy.
Gabby and her family are once again thrown into battle with Zlanythe and his crew after they seek revenge by killing one of their own. To defeat evil though, one must first understand it and delving into Zlanythe’s past initiates the ultimate fight between good and evil.
‘Before this week ends, I will lose three people I love. Two will die and one will succumb to the darkness that has been assailing them for so long. If I went back in time, I’m not sure there’s a thing I could have done to stop any of it.’
Betraying Xaverique ➫ There are enough plot twists and turns to keep you at the edge of your seat. Betraying Xaverique further explores the past and jumps between past and present. I didn’t really like the different time jumps at first because they’re n0t chronological, which gives a sense that the books isn’t really ‘together’, but then after a while, I think that this allows us readers to dive in much deeper into the book and understand the past of xaveriques in a unique manner.
If you haven’t read any of these books, be sure to check them out! It really is worth the read. 🙂
